Religion v/s Spirituality – The truth of False Religion

God has blessed and encouraged me thoroughly by the ‘Word of the Week’ by Zac Poonen. I am publishing it as is here with due credit to him. Read and be blessed. WORD FOR THE WEEK 21 February 2010

The Essence of Babylon – From Man, Through Man And To Man

Zac Poonen

In Genesis 11:4 we read that the people of the world decided to build a tower. They said to each other, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city and a tower whose top would reach to heaven.” They wanted their tower to be the gate of God (Babel). Human effort to reach God is a major constituent of false religion. False religion is always a religion of works – and not one of faith and dependence on God. Continue Reading

A Believer’s journey
Prerna Singh

I had to visit Kuwait.

I had to catch a flight in the early morning with my husband and my infant son. Many preparations were done. Ticket were bought first, then getting up in the very early morning, packing bags, packing the food for the baby, standing in the queue for the check-in , passport control queues, taking care of the infant all throughout because he was running here and there at the airport, boarding the plane, plane take off, air pressure causing pain in the ears, sitting in the tight seats, though feeling sleepy yet not able to stretch, landing of the plane, bearing second installment of pain in the ears, tired etc. Continue Reading

The perfect mistake

I was amazed why God did not allow me to change the ‘Word of the week’ for two weeks. I intended to change, yet, when I asked for it, He did not provide His Word. Finally I chose to keep this page as is – thinking probably God has to make that message available to someone who really needed it.

Finally, He touched my heart with one very inspiring story from Email Ministry – ‘The perfect mistake’. I have been thoroughly blessed, so publishing it as is, with all due credit to the Email Ministry team.

How to know that you are alive

In month of May in year 2006, I got a phone call in the night at 10:00 PM to reach home back in India from Sharjah as soon as possible. Doctors had advised to call all children before they could declare that my father was dead. Actually they wanted me to take the decision.

Next evening, while I was standing besides papa, I found him motionless and non-responsive, almost dead. I just prayed for him, told him several things from the Bible, requested him to forgive them who did wrong to him, seek forgiveness from God for all wrongdoings, sang the gospel song(s) he liked most and finally asked him to show me a sign if he could hear my voice. He responded by moving one of his finger. I knew he was alive listening to me. Continue Reading

First Love

love

My wife is always cautious that we must never loose the flavor of our first love, the charm of our marriage as we had since beginning. Sometimes when she sees an evident lack of communication or lack of care or lack of passion, she does complain; however, this does not disappoint her, neither she looses her heart but she tries more and more to keep our married life fresh as ever. Apka mulya chukaya gaya hai

Continue Reading

Family who saw a miracle

They say, ” Lord shine, wonder, beautiful miracle, my Lord !!!”

Praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ!

I am glad that you are reading this page. May God bless you as you read on, I have prayed for you. I am joyful that you wish to know more about me, but I will tell you, what God has done for me.

I belong to a Marathi hindu family. I was the first person in my family who was saved. In the month of May in 1998, I set myself on fire due to some personal/emotional reasons (and compelled by some unknown black-magic power). Though I came to realization soon and tried to save myself, yet I was half burnt. I was actually almost dead (100%), but our neighbor (building-mate), who was a believer, prayed for me along with her church members for my life. And I survived. Soon after their prayers, I opened my eyes – I was alive. But we did not believe in Jesus. Continue Reading

A Journey with my Heavenly Father | Seema

I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
[Psalm. 34:1]

On December 14, 2005, I was diagnosed with the breast cancer (third level). The news came as a complete surprise and caught me totally unprepared. It was definitely the worst day of my life but what made it even worse was that I was quite well informed about cancer and therefore had some idea of what to expect. I had mixed emotions; but the thought that immediately crossed my mind was “what have I done to deserve this.” However, when I look back at the events of the last eight or so months, I now understand that GOD wanted to develop His character in my life and to know He loves me. What about our traditions and culture?

And what about other traditions? Can we not respect our elders by touching their feet?

This is again a subjective question and above principle can explain this. However, to answer it specifically, I would recommend that we must ask wisdom from God to differentiate between culture and religious rituals. In general, you may touch the feet of elders, but we ought to understand that it is ensured that we would not compromise with the glory of God in anyway. Continue Reading

How marriage and other ceremonies will happen?

What about marriage and other ceremonies? Our rest of the families are yet following old religious traditions? So are we supposed to oppose them?

This is another subjective question in this series. I must admit, you have to take your own decision and deal with it based on the leading of the Holy Spirit of God.

You will find people on both extremes – those who totally revolt and go against their families and relatives and eventually loose the opportunity to share the gospel forever or those who totally surrender themselves to idol worship and other customs and do not give any glory to true and living God. In both the cases, probably they have not understood the spirit of the Word of God but the letter. Continue Reading
