A person who does not know God is like a lost person who does not know the reason of his existence at a given place on a given time. He just keeps living life as it comes. Majority of people in this lost world lives without knowing the light and do all sort of things without knowing the consequences.
Another group of people who exist in this world, are those, who truly believe in the existence of God but do not know who he is, they seek him. All religions in this world came into existence, because of this very reason. However, such people do what is right in their own sight. This same thing happened in the Old Testament times also.
In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
[Judges 21:25]
However, as people, who love God, who believe in Jesus Christ who demonstrated the fullness of God and paid the price of all our sins, and having known that God is real, and there will be judgment after this life, sometimes even we the ‘believers’ fall in the trap of performing good works to please God, to win his favor.
Is God really interested in our so called ‘good works’? Is it the right way to please God?
God was pleased in one man – Jesus Christ.
And a voice from heaven said, ” This is my Son, in whom I love, with him I am well pleased.
[Matthew 3:17]
From the Old Testament times, God has been revealing to us what pleases Him or in what things God delights.
I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on Earth, for in theses I delight.
[Jeremiah 9:24]
Word of God clearly indicates to us about his good pleasure.
Those controlled by sinful nature cannot please God.
[Romans 8:8]
And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
[Hebrews 11:6]
Follow peace with all men , and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
[Hebrews 12:14]
Let us therefore live a life of faith in Jesus Christ, full of kindness, holiness, justice and righteousness so that when God points towards us, He may say that this is my son/daughter in whom I am well pleased. Amen.
